Biography
Felipe González is a Professor of Economics at King's College London. His research lies at the intersection of political economy, development economics, and economic history, focusing on how institutions and policies shape economic and social outcomes in both democratic and authoritarian settings. His work contributes to understanding how the legacies of political regimes, state interventions, and public policies influence inequality, opportunity, and long-run development, offering insights that are crucial for developing bold ideas to tackle contemporary global challenges related to governance, inclusion, and growth.

Academic Background and Previous Positions
Before joining King's College London in 2025, Professor González was Associate Professor in the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London (2022–2025) and Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2017–2022). He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and holds an M.A. and B.A. in Business and Economics from PUC-Chile.

At King's, he contributes to departmental and school-wide initiatives in research and teaching. In previous institutions, he served on numerous committees, including hiring, scientific, and outreach committees, and represented his department in events promoting equity, diversity, and participation in economics.
