Biography
Fionna has a background in widening participation and evaluation of HE outreach initiatives. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as a Research and Evaluation Manager for a UK-based education charity.
Fionna’s PhD research focuses on how and to what extent experiences of the care system during childhood influence care experienced young people’s post-18 decision-making and choices relating to higher education. Fionna’s research is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council through the LISS DTP.
Fionna is also a Graduate Teaching Fellow in the School, leading seminars for the Social Sciences BA.
Fionna’s provisional thesis title is: Care experience and HE choices: How does care experience influence HE decision-making for care experienced young people?
