Biography

Grace has a passion for Emergency nursing and has had the opportunity to work in various Emergency Departments and settings both in the UK and internationally.

After completion of her BSc in Nursing Sciences from Queens University Belfast, Grace moved to Kansas, USA to complete a scholarship; Transatlantic Double Degree Programme (TADD). This allowed Grace over a period of one year to complete a further BSc in Nursing from the United States of America. From this experience she has training in not only Adult but Paediatric, Midwifery and Mental Health nursing.

Following this unique experience Grace then travelled to Savonlinna, Finland to finalise her scholarship. Here between learning conversational Finnish, Grace worked as a Nurse in the local Emergency Department and within the Emergency services. This opportunity allowed Grace to have a further understanding of international health and nursing.

Over the following several years Grace flourished within the Emergency Department setting working in both the UK and Auckland, New Zealand. Within her role in New Zealand Grace successful spearheaded changes to the streaming and triage process within local Emergency Departments. Grace returned to the UK in 2016 where she progressed to Sister with a Major Trauma Centre in a central London hospital. This opportunity allowed for progression in managerial, mentoring and advanced trauma skills.

After several years in clinical practice Grace moved to an academic role within Kings College London. This is a new and exciting opportunity in a reasonably unfamiliar area.

More recently due to the COVID-19 crisis Grace was headhunted to work within the NHS Nightingale Hospital where she was as an integral part of the Nightingale Faculty team. This included teaching both clinical and non-clinical volunteers how to be a safe, resourceful and knowledgeable participant in the Covid-19 fight. From this experience Grace is now developing a Quality Improvement Project, linking simulated practice into the academic setting.

Grace passionately continues to work within her clinical role to ensure links between academic and practice align.
