Biography

I completed my PhD studying ERK5's regulation of ESC pluripotency in Greg Findlay's lab at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit in Dundee. From there, I took up a postdoctoral position with Beth Payne at the UCL Cancer Institute, studying metabolic changes in rare inherited anaemias such as Diamond-Blackfan Anaemia (DBA) in zebrafish models. I am currently researching diabetes, studying pro-survival signals during beta cell differentiation which will improve the survival of transplanted hiPSC-derived islets as the basis of a curative treatment for T1 Diabetes.

Alongside my research, I enjoy teaching and public engagement, and I am currently the London Chapter Manager for the global science outreach organisation, Pint of Science.
