Biography

"Hi, I’m Jamie, one of the Faculty Wellbeing Advisors here at KCL. I work with the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care and I joined King’s in December 2023.

I have worked in both Further and Higher Education institutions for the past 8 years, originally starting off as a librarian specializing in accessibility and inclusion for disabled students, before transitioning into specialist disability and welfare positions, which I have focused on over the past 5 years. My specialist area(s) would focus around disability support, accessibility, mental health support and sexual violence (as I am a qualified Sexual Violence Liaison Officer - LimeCulture). Providing direct support and promoting positive mental health is what drives me in my personal mission to help individuals excel and thrive in their student journey, as well as empower them to make the right decisions and give them the space and scope to do so. I pride myself on being someone who actively listens and can provide necessary and appropriate advice, all with the end goal of ensuring the individual has the best and most optimal route to achieve their intended outcome. I am excited to join such a diverse and excellent team, and I look forward to the opportunity of being able to contribute and apply my experience and driving passion of providing support, towards ensuring we give all King’s students the best opportunity to excel in their journey and overcome any challenges collaboratively which may arise along the way.

I am fortunate, excited, and honored to be part of a team which has an excellent roster of talented and highly knowledgeable individuals, who all strive towards the collective goal of being that support pillar and much needed contributor towards empowering students to fulfil their full potential whilst at King’s.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading as many books as I can, spending time with my partner and daughter (going on walks and little adventures), as well as playing/writing music (when I can!) and be active as much as possible (trying to attend the local boxing gym at least once a week)."
