Jingxian is a Wellcome Early-Career Fellow at the Lau China Institute, King's College London, with links to the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. Her research sits at the intersection of medical anthropology, critical disability studies, and China studies, examining how health classifications become embedded in family strategies, bureaucratic systems, and community silences.

Her current project, Instrumentalised Disability: Gendered Pathways to Health Injustice in China's One-Child Generation, explores how children's impairments, health conditions, or disability classifications could become strategically mobilised within family reproductive decision-making under China's one-child policy, and the long-term health consequences for adult survivors after the policy’ repeal.
