Biography

Judith’s first degree was in engineering at Imperial College London, which was followed by an MSc in Neuroscience at the IoPPN, King’s College London. Her doctoral studies, which were also at the IoPPN, focused on the high frequencies of the EEG in drug induced psychosis and psychotic disorders. For 6 years after her PhD Judith worked as the EEG expert in the Neuroimaging department of the IoPPN, where she was involved in a range of different psychiatric and pharmacological studies. She has subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Oxford, Birkbeck and St Mary’s. Judith then returned to the IoPPN to work on the “Sound Mind” project, an investigation into novel forms of sound therapy, at EEG resonant frequencies, as a therapy for dementia. Currently, she is based in Psychosis Studies, working on the EEG component of an investigation into the mechanisms of auditory hallucinations in psychotic disorders, which is led by Prof Oliver Howes. Judith is particularly interested in understanding the high frequencies of neural oscillations and their relationship with psychotic experiences.
