Biography

Karin A King is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management Education at King's Business School.

Karin’s research considers talent management as a set of nested strategic systems, extending consideration of talent management from a within-organisation endeavour to consider the interaction between organisational talent management and the external macro talent systems within which organisations operate.

Central to her research is the focus on talent management as a sustainable competitive practice that considers multiple actors and stakeholders and is integrated with other strategic people priorities, including diversity, equity, and inclusion. Her work considers management engagement in global talent management, including actions to bridge the macro-micro context which she argues presents an important opportunity for management influence in operationalising global talent management for its greater effectiveness and sustained value to the organisation and its stakeholders.

Her teaching, research, and consulting focus on global HR management, leadership and change, strategic talent management and negotiation.

Dr King is also an experienced global human resource management practitioner and management consultant, having held senior leadership positions in each prior to her career in academia and continues to advise management on talent and human capital strategy.

Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and books and has been presented regularly at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and the EIASM Annual Symposium on Talent Management.

Dr King is not currently accepting new PhD students.
