Biography

Dr Karishma Jivraj is a chartered psychologist interested in improving mental health and wellbeing outcomes for various populations through improved service provision, integrating person-centred approaches, mixed-methods research, and coproduction in her work.

 

Dr Jivraj joined King’s College London in Spring 2024, working for the Centre for Evidence for the Armed Forces Community in the King’s Centre for Military Health Research. Her areas of research and taught expertise are in Clinical, Social, and Positive Psychology, and Research Methods. She currently leads funded research exploring the benefits of military Service and public perceptions of the Armed Forces.

 

Interested in improving service delivery and outcomes for those experiencing challenges with mental health and wellbeing, Dr Karishma uses mixed research methods and coproduction and her work has led to being a recipient of Early Career awards and engaging externally beyond the academic sector, disseminating research findings to diverse audiences nationally and internationally.

 

Dr Jivraj has previously held positions as a Lecturer at University College London and Senior Lecturer at University of Northampton, led on a BSc Psychology (Counselling) degree, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and supervising doctoral research. She has also worked for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) supporting clinical trials under the Mental Health Clinical Research Network. Her PhD was a mixed-method study of shared decision making, therapeutic relationships, and medication adherence.
