Biography

Dr Katie Bechman is a rheumatologist and epidemiologist at King’s College London. She graduated in medicine from the University of Birmingham and completed specialist training in rheumatology, undertaking an MRC Doctoral Fellowship followed by an NIHR Clinical Lectureship at King’s College London. Through this work, she developed expertise in observational research and evidence synthesis to address key questions in rheumatology and pharmacoepidemiology. She is now a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Inflammation Biology.

Dr Bechman’s research focuses on immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, with particular interests in treatment safety, long-term outcomes, and the optimisation of immunosuppressive therapy. Her academic work combines meta-analysis, large-scale health data analytics, and pharmacoepidemiological methods to generate high-quality evidence that supports improvements in clinical practice and patient care.
