Dr Kyriaki Koukouraki SFHEA

Lecturer in EAP & Cultural Competency Education

Biography

Kyriaki holds a BA in Interpreting and a BA in trilingual Translation (Greek, German, English) from the Ionian University of Greece. Her Ph.D awarded by the Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany focuses on Intercultural Communication and Relations. Furthermore, she has successfully completed the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA).

Prior to coming to King’s College Kyriaki worked in a variety of HE institutions and has been a lecturer for Translation, Pragmatics, Sociolinguistics, and Business English. She has also taught English for Academic Purposes at Durham University.

Currently, Kyriaki is researching the impact, but also the interference of cultural aspects in languages and subsequently language teaching and learning as well as studying the required intercultural competencies for HE professionals and students. She is also a member of The World Council on Intercultural and Global Competence.

In her free time she enjoys alpine skiing, classical music, theatre, and reading.
