Lan Tu

Lan Tu was appointed as an independent member of the College Council in 2016, and Vice-Chair in November 2021. She is the Chair of the Remuneration Committee and the newly formed Staff & Culture Strategy Committee. Lan is also a member of the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee.

Lan is the Senior Independent Director at Shawbrook Bank, a UK major challenger bank, and an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Compensation Committee at WNS Global Services, a business management processing company. Prior to this she was Chief Executive of Virgin Money Investments, a joint venture between Virgin Money and Abrdn. Lan also served as Chief Strategy Officer for Standard Life PLC and held a number of senior roles in American Express, including Chairperson, American Express Advanced Services Europe. She started her career at the management consultancy McKinsey & Co.

Lan is married with two adult sons and is an alumna of King’s College London.
