Biography

Lei Luo joined King’s College London in 2021, where he completed his MSc in Neuroscience, and is now a PhD Candidate in the Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). He is based in the Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry Centre and works under the supervision of Dr Raquel Iniesta, Dr Toby Wise and Professor Daniel Stahl. Prior to joining King’s, he completed a BSc in Bioscience at the Southern University of Science and Technology.

His research focuses on computational models of adolescent mental health, with particular emphasis on latent factor modelling, autoencoder-based representations and multimodal prediction using large-scale datasets such as the ABCD Study. His areas of expertise include machine learning, deep learning architectures, factor analysis, functional connectivity analysis and survey-based research design. He has experience in developing machine-learning pipelines, interpretability workflows and large-scale data processing on high-performance computing systems. His broader research interests include computational psychiatry, dimensional models of mental health and the application of AI methods to psychological and clinical research.
