Biography
Lojean joined the Department of Political Economy in October 2025. Her doctoral research explores the intersections of transitional justice, identity, and post-authoritarian governance in Syria. She aims to understand how legacies of human rights abuses continue to influence everyday life and political attitudes and behaviours. Her work also examines the attitudes, behaviours, and expectations that shape community engagement with justice mechanisms, as well as the broader challenges of rebuilding trust, legitimacy, and social cohesion after authoritarian rule.
Lojean holds a BA in Psychology from the American University of Beirut and an MSc in Social Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London. Before beginning her PhD, she worked within the legal sector, experience that informs her interest in institutional trust, public accountability, and governance reform.
