Biography
Dr Lotte Elton is an academic GP trainee and researcher, currently completing an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at King's College London. She has a research background in medical sociology and philosophy and has a particular interest in overdiagnosis and appropriate use of medical resources.
Her previous work has explored online community-building in gestational diabetes and the role of theory in supporting diabetes prevention programmes. She is interested in how the growing emphasis on people 'self-managing' their health might lead to or worsen stigma. As part of the Social Responses to Stigma project she is exploring how primary care systems and processes might alleviate or lessen stigma towards people experiencing homelessness.
Prior to joining King's College London, she completed an MPhil at the University of Cambridge and an MSc at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
