Biography

Marie-Louise joined King’s College London in 2018 as a Research Fellow at the King’s Centre for Military Health Research at the IoPPN. Marie-Louise is a mixed methods researcher and has research expertise in psychological medicine and epidemiology. Her research interests include military mental health and help-seeking behaviours, the health and wellbeing of Emergency Responders and has a focus on methods to extend research impact. Marie-Louise has PhD in Psychological Medicine from King’s College London, an MPhil in Politics and a BA (Joint Hons) in History and Politics both from Magdalen College, University of Oxford.

Marie-Louise previously worked in the non-profit sector specialising in Armed Forces healthcare policy and has advised the UK Government on research and best practice in the National Health Service and the Ministry of Defence. She was awarded a Clore Social leadership fellowship in 2016 which aims to support leadership, understanding and innovation across the non-profit sector. In 2018 she was awarded a King's College London Worldwide Partnership Fund Grant to develop international research relationships. She is a member of the Five Eyes Mental Health Research and Innovation Collaborative focused on improving international research and mental health outcomes for the Armed Forces community. Marie-Louise also has a background in political science and comparative government having trained at post-graduate level at Oxford University.

Expertise and Public Engagement

Marie-Louise is a member of the Confederation of Service Charities Research Cluster and the Contact Group. 'Contact' is the collaboration of statutory and non-statutory (charity, academic and professional) organisations working to improve mental health support to the UK armed forces community including serving personnel, veterans and their families. She is also a member of the Five Eyes Mental Health Research and Innovation Collaborative focused on improving international research and mental health outcomes for the Armed Forces community.
