Biography

Matteo joined the Department of Political Economy in October 2022. He holds a Research Master’s degree in Political Science from Sciences Po Paris with a dissertation on the financing of green innovation in the EU, and received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Bologna.

Doctoral research

Matteo focuses on the financing of the climate transition in the EU. In particular, he studies the contested nature of sustainable finance, stressing the tensions between objectives of risk management, financial opportunity and climate investments. His project aims to assess the interplay between financial infrastructures, geopolitics, and the changing role of states. For this purpose, Matteo works with a focus on text-as-data methods and interviews.
