Biography

Meander Van den Brande is a postgraduate researcher in the Department of Mathematics, King’s College London. Meander is currently undertaking his MPhil/PhD under supervision of Francois Huveneers in the Disorderd Systems group of the Department of Mathematics at King’s College London.

He previously completed his master’s degree in physics in KULeuven in 2024.

Thesis title

Exploring the non-equilibrium states of matter

  • Emergence of large-scale behaviour from microscopic dynamics
  • Non-equilibrium spin systems
  • Numerical and analytical treatment of stochastic generators of random processes

Specifically, Meander is interested in the understanding the beauty of emergent phenomena within non-equilibrium systems.

PhD supervision

First supervisor: François Huveneers

Second supervisor: Benjamin Doyon
