Biography

Mengqi is a PhD student in education research and belongs to the CRESTEM group at the School of Education, Communication and Society.

Before joining King's, she obtained a Master's in Digital Technologies, Communication and Education from the University of Manchester and was awarded first-class honours.

Research

Mengqi's research explores the impact of embedded AI learning apps for SLA from the analysis of AI-based apps’ learning design and children’s experiences of using these apps at home context.

It is expected to help specify Chinese children’s present usage of the embedded AI learning apps and identify the potential or risk of the AI technology based on key SLA theories and learning design (LD) of the embedded AI learning apps.

Her thesis title is: An investigation of the value of AI-powered functionality for young ESL learners’ learning of pronunciation.
