
Biography
As a Senior Learning Designer at King’s Digital, Michael is responsible for the learning design strategy across the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education programmes.
He works closely with academic teams at multiple levels, collaborating with them to:
- plan programme-level approaches to learning outcomes, assessment, social learning and multimedia
- design individual courses and modules that are effective, efficient and engaging
- develop inclusive and accessible text, visual, media and interactive content.
He also leads a team of learning designers based in London and Nairobi to deliver high quality learning tailored to the needs of our transnational learners.
Michael works closely with other King’s Digital and African Leadership Centre colleagues to explore how best to use technological platforms and tools to meet learner needs. He is also involved in testing and evaluating courses: he has visited Ghana, Kenya and Nigeria to meet with stakeholders and test prototype learning materials.
Michael’s approach is driven by storytelling pedagogies, active learning, inclusive learning design and social learning. As part of his role, he has led innovative initiatives such as the development of interactive scenarios and fictional learner characters for use in courses and modules.
He regularly presents his work at learning design and edtech sector conferences.
