Project Title: New Organizational Forms in Health Care: Governance, Leadership and Major Organisational Change
Year of Entry: 2017, part-time
My research is in public administration with particular reference to the NHS where I worked in senior finance roles for 15 years or so. My previous, masters degree research concerned collaborative administration of an environment programme in the north-east of England, the Great North Forest. This theme of collaboration is continued in my current work where I focus on the drivers of collaboration in the field of healthcare in England, the form collaboration takes and the implications this has for our understanding of public administration more generally. In particular, my concern is how governance and leadership is represented in these new organisational forms and whether those new forms point to a continuation of New Public Management or whether it reflects a move to network governance or other similar post-bureaucratic forms of administration.
