
Biography
Olive Toran is a PhD student in the Department of Geography.
Olive is an artist, musician and climate adaptation research and communications strategist. She has over 10 years of international experience leading policy advocacy, risk communication, and community resilience initiatives across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the US.
Olive is skilled at translating complex climate and health and disaster preparedness research into actionable strategies for NGOs, governments, and grassroots organizations. She has a proven record as a keynote speaker, published author, and program manager, driving organizational change and public engagement on climate-smart solutions. Olive combines creative methods (art, music, storytelling, and participatory design) with policy and research expertise to influence decision-making.
Olive is fluent in English and French.
