
Biography
Dr Oliver Lewis received his BA in English Literature from the University of Roehampton in 2014, his MA in Comparative Literature from King's College London in 2019, and his PhD from the University of Roehampton in 2024. He has previously taught at the University of Roehampton, King's College London, and Glasgow Caledonian University, before joining King's as a Lecturer in September 2025.
Research Interests
- Early modern literature and culture
- Early modern gender, particularly configurations of manhood / masculinity (ideals, transgressions, questions of sustainability)
- Embodiment and representations of the humoral body
- Archive studies and archival violence
Teaching
Oliver teaches early modern drama, poetry, and prose on undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
Expertise & Public Engagement
Oliver has worked with theatre organisations like Shakespeare's Globe. This includes helping develop research subject guides on Disability, Gender, Queerness, and Race in the works of Shakespeare, the Globe's library, and online collections, alongside presenting research at events including the Shakespeare and Race festival.
