Biography

David's background is in research and development supporting school curriculum and assessment policy at England, UK and EU levels. He has been involved in the School since 2005 when he started a part-time MRes at King's.

David joined the School full-time in 2010 when he started a PhD studentship with Economic and Social Research Council funding. David then became a post-doctoral research associate on an Education Endowment Foundation project in 2014 and began his lectureship in 2016.

Research

David's current research interests are:

  • Educational assessment, assessment validity, psychological measurement and self-assessment
  • International education, comparative education, international assessments and international schools
  • STEM education, mathematics education, environmental education, intercultural competence and citizenship education.

Teaching

David is programme director of the distance-learning Executive MA International Education supported by Nord Anglia Education. He organises MA International Education modules on international education and international schools and research methods for international education.

He contributes to MA Education modules on international and comparative education, recent developments in mathematics education and business management in education. He also contributes to the PGCE in mathematics education.

PhD supervision

David supervises students in the fields of international education, comparative education, STEM education and educational assessment.
