Biography

I am a Clinician Scientist with a specialist interest in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) and related lymphomas. I obtained my PhD from King’s College London, UK in 2009 and undertook a Post-Doctoral Visiting Fellowship in Dr Nicholas Chiorazzi’s laboratory at the Feinstein Institute of Medical Research, New York, USA between 2009 and 2013. I was appointed as a Consultant Haematologist at King’s College Hospital, UK in 2013 and manage lymphoma patients, especially those with CLL at King's Health Partners hospitals.

After obtaining a MRC funded Clinical Academic Research Partnership award, I was appointed Senior Clinical Lecturer in 2019 within the Comprehensive Cancer Centre where I research the tumour microenvironment of CLL and related lymphomas. I am especially interested in how T cells may support these diseases within their microenvironment and how this may impact newer treatments that harness the immune system.

In addition to laboratory based research I run multiple clinical trials, working closely with the UK NIHR clinical trial groups. I am current secretary to the UK CLL forum, promoting education for trainees, all health professionals and patients, and have co-authored multiple national guidelines.
