Sara is a visiting Professor for the Transforming cancer OUtcomes through Research (TOUR) team, she joined the team in June 2025 after previously working as Professor in Cancer care at the University of Surrey. Prior to joining the University of Surrey, she worked as a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) nursing fellow obtaining her PhD at the Institute of Cancer Research and continued to work as a Macmillan Lecturer and registered nurse. Sara currently works as Professor in Radiation therapy at Trinity College Dublin. She was President of European Oncology Nursing and on the board from 2003-2011. She is currently a nominated member of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences.

Sara provides support for current oncology projects concerning living with and beyond cancer treatment. She is involved in the HORIZON CVD study secondary data analysis exploring cardiovascular risks and comorbidities for cancer survivors following cancer treatment.
