Biography
Dr Sebastian Ellis is a Lecturer in Physics in the TPPC group of the Department of Physics, King’s College London. His primary research focus is on theoretical tools for elucidating the nature of dark matter, and for the detection of gravitational waves. His research lies at the intersection of theoretical particle phenomenology, astroparticle physics, cosmology, gravitational waves, and quantum sensing.
Dr Ellis obtained his PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Michigan. He was then a postdoctoral researcher at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory for three years, and at CEA Saclay for one year. From 2021, Sebastian held a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation at the University of Geneva, before joining the KCL faculty in 2025. Over this period, Sebastian’s theoretical work has led to the formation of multiple experimental collaborations based in Europe and the United States.
