Biography

Semra Worrall is a Chartered Psychologist and Research Associate in Health Data Science, working across the Early Life Cross-Linkage in Research-Born in South London [eLIXIR-BiSL] linked cohort dataset for maternal and child health outcomes and the PRECISE Network for pregnancy care integration.

She completed her BSc in Psychology and MSc in Research Methods at the University of Liverpool, before being appointed as a Doctoral Academic Teacher and completing her PhD in Mental Health – focusing on the relationship between preterm birth and perinatal mental health – at the same institution. Having previously held multiple Research Assistant roles alongside her PhD, she joined King’s College London in late-2025 and in addition to her work on eLIXIR-BiSL and PRECISE, has been developing a programme of work into the mental health effects of preterm birth in minoritised and marginalised populations.

Semra has been involved in a number of systematic reviews and has particular skills in statistical analyses for psychometric scale development and validation. Semra is committed to global partnerships and capacity building, holding many international collaborations and serving as the Co-Ordinator for the Society for Reproductive and Infant Psychology since 2024.

She has a breadth of teaching experience, including lecturing and supervision at Undergraduate and Master’s level, whilst also contributing to CPD-accredited short courses. She is open to applications for supervision from iBSc, MSc, and Doctoral-level students.
