Biography
Dr Costello is a Research Associate in Interprofessional Sciences working on the FEARLESS ICU project. FEARLESS ICU is an NIHR-funded ethnographic project exploring the interprofessional teamworking practices of intensive care units in England following the Covid-19 pandemic. Dr Costello also works on an NIHR-funded Team Science Award focused on the supports and challenges of including people with cognitive impairments in health and social care research.
Dr Costello earned her PhD in Social Science at Cardiff University exploring the impact of mobile technology installed with software to record patient observations on the clinical practice and care management of the users of the devices. She also earned her MSc in Ageing Health and Disease at Cardiff University and BSc Social Work at Northumbria University. At Cardiff University, Dr Costello also worked as a research assistant on a project focused on the shared roles and responsibilities of interprofessional health and social care educational supervisors.
Dr Costello is a mixed methods social scientist and health services researcher with expertise in qualitative methods. Her research interests include interprofessional working in secondary care settings, the interface between health and social care, and the lived experiences of older people and their carers.
