
Lord Simon Stevens

Biography
Lord Stevens of Birmingham Kt. took up post as Chair of King’s College Council on 1 January 2025.
Simon has had a distinguished career in the UK and internationally in both the public and private sectors. He is also Chair of the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Chair of Cancer Research UK, a trustee of the Commonwealth Fund of New York, and an independent crossbench member of the House of Lords.
He previously served as Chief Executive of NHS England for seven years, having also worked internationally and as a senior policy adviser to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street. Educated at a state comprehensive school, he is a graduate of Oxford and Strathclyde universities. He was also a Harkness Fellow at Columbia University, a Visiting Professor at LSE, and is an Honorary Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford.
