Research interests

Soterios’ primary research interests are in the fields of commercial law, maritime law, comparative private law, conflict-of-laws, and dispute resolution. These areas of law are inseparably linked, covering all life-stages of a commercial agreement, ie. from its negotiation and formation, to the performance of the assumed contractual obligations, and the resolution of any disputes arising from such transactions.

In accordance with his academic interests, his research agenda is inherently international and aspires to challenge, revisit, and simplify the present state of the law in an attempt to address omnipresent and future challenges in international trade. Soterios’ current research projects include pieces on the application of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods by US courts, the impact of the blockchain technology on international business transactions and private international law, and an empirical and doctrinal review of the sales and conflict-of-laws regimes in mainland China and Hong Kong.
