Biography
King’s Business School launched its Executive MBA to equip senior professionals with the leadership tools and knowledge to address some of the biggest challenges facing businesses – and the world – today. We caught up with our Executive MBA students to see how their experience is helping them drive impact in the world around them.
For Dr Uvie Brigue, an Executive MBA was the natural next step in his medical career. With a goal to bridge the gap between frontline medicine and innovation, it would be the strategic business acumen that the programme delivers that would allow Uvie to deliver health system transformation that is both sustainable and scalable, whilst still leading with compassion.
“I see myself as a bridge between clinical excellence and strategic leadership. My long-term ambition is to contribute to health system transformation—delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care while empowering the workforce to thrive. Alongside this, I am committed to leading my faith-based community into social impact and contributing to national transformation.”
After building a history over nearly two decades encompassing everything from championing initiatives to overseeing services, Uvie was ready to add executive leadership, innovation and impact to his repertoire. Already building his career at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, studying at King’s was also a natural fit for Uvie.
“King’s combines academic excellence with a strong emphasis on healthcare leadership and innovation. Being embedded within one of the UK’s leading academic health centres allows me to integrate new knowledge directly into practice while continuing to lead clinical services at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.”
As he approached the halfway point of the programme, he’d already noticed the affirmative changes that the programme has made to his confidence and outlook when it comes to addressing strategic business challenges. Uvie has used the holistic skills learned from the Executive MBA to approach clinical, strategic and financial challenges in a new way.
Specifically, Uvie has recognised the value of framing challenges through different perspectives – a strengthened ability that he now uses to align people, purpose and resource to deliver effective healthcare leadership and drive positive systemic change. He has already applied his insights to improving theatre efficiency and is developing an initiative to advance digital patient-centred redesigns.
“The Executive MBA has enhanced my ability to engage colleagues, patients, and stakeholders in a shared vision of safer, more efficient care. The programme is equipping me with the tools to drive digital innovation, foster cross-sector collaboration, and lead sustainable health system transformation. I want to continue developing as a transformational leader—someone who not only inspires teams but also influences strategy and policy.”
