Biography

Vaidehee obtained her PhD from the University of Chicago in 2016, under the supervision of Professor Kazuya Kato. She joined the Department of Mathematics in September 2021 as a Research Associate, working with Dr Rachel Newton.

Research Interests

Vaidehee is interested in arithmetic algebraic geometry, number theory, and valuation theory. Much of her current work and future projects aim to develop ramification theory for arbitrary valuation fields, extending the classical theory of complete discrete valuation fields with perfect residue fields. The study of wild ramification sheds light on the mysterious phenomenon of the 'defect' (or ramification deficiency) that is unique to the positive residue characteristic case and is one of the main obstacles in obtaining resolution of singularities.

Number Theory

King's College London has a strong tradition of research in number theory, and this continues today with a particular emphasis on algebraic and representation-theoretic aspects of the subject.
