Biography:

Dr. Victoria (Vicky) McGuinness has around 25 years of experience in museums, archaeology, the arts, and higher education. She holds a PhD in Museum and Cultural Project Management from the University of Leicester (School of Museum Studies). Her first degree is in Classical Archaeology from King’s College London Classics Department. Vicky has also worked as a project management and museums consultant, with international experience in the Middle East, Greece, Spain, and Portugal.

Vicky currently works at King’s College London as part of King’s Innovation Catalyst, where she supports researchers in the arts, humanities, and social sciences to develop partnerships with external organisations. Prior to this, she spent 18 years at the University of Oxford, where she was most recently Head of Public Engagement for the Humanities Division and led TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities) for 11 years. Her work focused on fostering and supporting equitable interdisciplinary and public engagement with research collaborations through local and international projects and partnerships.

Before joining TORCH, Vicky was a Project Manager at the Ashmolean Museum for 7 years, overseeing the object processing and mount-making for the £61 million redevelopment, which included 12,000 objects in 35 new galleries, alongside managing multiple projects and commercial services.

Vicky is a Trustee of MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology), the British School at Athens, and a member of the International Advisory Board of CIRCUS at Uppsala University, Sweden. She also volunteers at the Oxfordshire Animal Sanctuary.
