Biography
Vincent Lloyd studied at Princeton (BA) and the University of California, Berkeley (MA, PhD). He is currently Professor of Theology and Religious Studies and Director of the Center for Political Theology at Villanova University, where he is also affiliated with the Africana Studies Program.
He has held visiting positions at Durham University, the University of Notre Dame, Emory University, and Deep Springs College, as well as fellowships from the Center for Theological Inquiry, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Guggenheim Foundation. He has served as part of the journal Political Theology's editorial team since 2012, and he currently co-edits the Routledge book series, Transforming Political Theologies.

Lloyd is interested in the connections between religion and philosophy, particularly as they speak to questions of race and social movements. He also has interests in Christian ethics and doctrine, as well as in Black studies. He has published on figures including Gillian Rose, Simone Weil, James Baldwin, Anna Julia Cooper, and Aimé Césaire, and on concepts including secularism, abuse, hope, liturgy, and abolitionism. He is currently co-writing a book on race and Christian doctrine with Professor Jonathan Tran. His next project is a narrative history of the Johnson-Forest Tendency centered on C. L. R. James, Grace Lee Boggs, and Raya Dunayevskaya.
