Biography
Dr Yasmin Benbow is a Core Trainee in Psychiatry within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is currently working as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London.
Yasmin completed her medical degree at the University of Leicester, graduating in 2020. During her studies, she undertook an intercalated Master’s degree in Global Mental Health, jointly awarded by King’s College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2018.
After graduating, Yasmin worked as an interim foundation doctor on a respiratory ward in Leicester to support the NHS response during the COVID-19 pandemic, before moving to Oxford to complete her foundation training.Her interest in eating disorders developed after working on a specialist eating disorder unit following foundation training. She is now taking a year out of clinical training to work as a Clinical Research Fellow, supporting Consultant Psychiatrist Dr Hubertus Himmerich with the EDEN Study, investigating the use of ketamine as a treatment for depression in anorexia nervosa.
