Assessment Boards, External Examiners and Committee Procedures

Information on Assessment Boards, Sub-Boards, External Examiners and Committee Procedures relating to Student Conduct & Appeals can be found below.

Every programme at King's is assigned to an Assessment Board within the respective Faculty, which includes members of academic staff from the faculty as well as external examiners.

Assessment Boards and Sub-Boards are responsible for ensuring examinations and assessment procedures under their remit are carried out in accordance with College regulations and other requirements outlined in programme specification. The following documents include the Terms of Reference and Membership for each Board which includes duties and responsibilities.

External examiners are an important part of our quality assurance and enhancement procedures. The College appoints external examiners who are suitably qualified and experience in their relevant subject area to review, provide comments and recommendations on assessment awarding processes at King’s. The duties and responsibilities of external examiners, including the responsibilities of the Chief and Faculty Chief Examiner roles are outlined above.

The Research Degrees Examination Board is responsible for the conduct of the final examinations for the College’s research degrees, including the research component of professional doctorates. It is responsible for the appointment of the examiners and the conduct of the final examinations of research degree students.

These are the committee procedures for Academic Appeal, Misconduct, Fitness to Practise and Fitness to Practise Appeal Panels.
