Sustainability Leadership: Risk and Opportunities
Business, Leadership & Management
Course overview
For many corporate leaders, waiting for policy certainty on climate is not an option. Climate risks are rising faster than businesses realise and are already reshaping real estate valuations, financial markets, and investor expectations. This programme is designed to take participants on a journey through sustainability leadership from both an internal and external perspective.

Course features
The programme provides a unique mix of key concepts, knowledge transfer and practical skills to help corporate leaders protect long-term value from climate risks while addressing short-term financial pressures. Well-designed sustainability initiatives can deliver financial and operational benefits while enhancing customer retention and revenue, reducing GHG emissions, and lowering operating costs.
Our approach to sustainability leadership is for organisations to have actionable, measurable, specific projects as part of a short-term rolling plan.
This programme will cover:
Day 1: The inner values and knowledge required to credibly lead sustainability |
Starting with an overview of the science of climate change. You’ll learn to understand the importance of personal beliefs as a foundation of credible sustainability leadership. You’ll then examine the latest sustainability regulations and accounting standards. Finally, you’ll explore greenwashing, how to spot it and how to avoid it. |
Day 2: Net zero strategies for decarbonisation, innovation and finance |
An introduction to net zero strategies and business models for deep decarbonisation will help set you up to understand how investors, insurers, and lenders expect climate disclosures to meet the same standards as financial statements. You’ll then learn how to identify material risks and opportunities of sustainability, understand how NZP supports a green transition and how organisations can benefit from new accounting standards. You’ll also review data and management tools needed to drive business decisions and finally attend a with a guest speaker. |
Day 3: Leading sustainable transformation |
Upskill, manage and incentivise sustainability in your organisation. Analyse your different stakeholders, their motivations and barriers they present in resisting sustainable transformation. As part of this module, there is an external site visit to central London on this day. |
