The Leica CM1950 is a cryostat microtome used in the facility for the preparation of frozen sections for downstream laser ablation ICP-MS imaging workflows. Operating under controlled low-temperature conditions, it enables reproducible sectioning of biological samples while preserving spatial integrity for elemental analysis.

The system is fitted with tungsten carbide blades, which provide improved durability and sectioning performance for harder or more challenging sample types. This makes it a valuable component of the facility’s sample preparation infrastructure for spatially resolved metallomic analysis.
