Understanding organ development and tissue regeneration provides a framework for elucidating disease mechanisms as well as for developing new therapeutics. Insights into developmental processes have shed light on the origin of congenital defects and inherited diseases, including metabolic disorders. Regenerative medicine with the generation of stem cell-based therapeutics is profoundly inspired by developmental biology. Additionally, reactivating endogenous regeneration processes and identifying regeneration factors hold tremendous therapeutic potential for the treatment of many diseases and injuries.

Our research interest group will build bridges in basic knowledge and application for translation across King’s, providing cohesion to this broad and interdisciplinary field. We will build a collaborative community to boost creativity and foster exciting interdisciplinary approaches.
