Identifying immune correlates of infection in preterm infants
Supported by Action Medical research we are studying how the immune system (the system that protects the body from infection) as a whole reacts to confirmed infection in preterm babies and hence identify relevant markers of clinical infection. We are also looking to identify differences in the immune system of infants, prior to the onset of infection, who then go on to develop severe infection to distinguish babies who may be at higher risk of developing infection in the first few months of life.
