Our lab investigates the genetic regulation of gene expression across tissues, time and environments. We focus on three main themes.
- Regulation of adipose (fat) gene expression and its role in development of obesity and cardio-metabolic disease.
- The impact of ageing on gene expression, including large longitudinal multi-omics studies in a deeply-phenotyped ageing twin cohort.
- The genetic and environmental regulation of gene expression on chromosome X.
The lab is situated within the Department of Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology, which hosts the TwinsUK cohort. Dr Small is Deputy Director (Scientific) of TwinsUK.
