The Seed Fund will allow to explore in depth what the institutional culture, leadership & departmental barriers are that have generated disparities in the academic attainment of undergraduate students on Health School programmes.

Athena Swan Silver Award given to SIMS in 2015: The award recognises the importance and commitment of our School to advance equality and diversity in relation to gender and race for all staff.

B-Mentor Scheme and More than Mentoring
B-MEntor is a cross-institutional London-wide mentoring scheme for academic, professional service and research staff from Black, Asian, Mixed and minority ethnic backgrounds. A number of academics from our School have been mentors for the schemes for many years

FoLSM Confidential Advisors
Confidential Advisors are trained staff who support PhD students and staff within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine who witness or experience bullying & harassment. You can meet with an Advisor to confidentially discuss your situation and explore your options in an informal setting outside of any formal grievance process.

Supporting carers
Here you will find information and details of support if you are a carer for a dependant who is affected by a long term physical/mental illness or disability, addiction or issues relating to old age. A dependant is usually a spouse, partner, parent, grandparent or disabled child.

Menopause Policy
King’s College London is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all those within our community. The purpose of this policy is to ensure our practices and procedures are inclusive and support all staff who are affected by symptoms of the menopause. This policy cover all members of staff and is relevant to individual staff members and line managers.

New personal and professional development courses for staff
To support the personal and professional development of everyone at King's, we are the launching the leadership, learning and development courses for Term 3 of the 22/23 academic year. These learning hubs have been carefully designed by the Organisational Development team to support all colleagues from across the organisation to support their developmental needs, and are comprised of a series of free webinars focused on Personal Effectiveness, Management Essentials, Career Essentials and Digital Skills.

Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Lanyard Scheme Launch
A global initiative that started in UK airports and has since expanded – as you may know, we are now a member! A tool to voluntarily make an unseen disability or condition known, so that the individual can access additional assistance, time and/or understanding. One step in King’s journey towards better understanding and inclusion around non-visible conditions and disabilities.

Stelios Papaioannou - Mental Health First Aider 2022
I became a Mental Health First Aider in 2022, and Mental Health Champion in 2023. As a mental health champion of the school my role is to challenge stigma and encourage positive mental health in the workplace. My door is always open to all staff and students. I will always be there if someone needs a helping hand.
