Thank you for your interest in postgraduate research at King’s and the part that the Centre for Doctoral Studies plays in this.

What do we do? 

The Centre for Doctoral Studies is a university-wide professional services centre with responsibility for the postgraduate research student experience.

Our mission: equipping research students to excel.

We do this by setting and enhancing standards, providing support and training, and improving provision for postgraduate students across King's. Our focus is on four key areas: 

Support – improving support services & providing timely and useful information

Funding – attracting and resourcing research students

Training – offering high quality personal, professional, academic, & career development opportunities

Community – nurturing a collaborative & welcoming environment for all research students

The primary focus of the postgraduate and Centre for Doctoral Studies support team is to manage, administer and provide support for strategic developments in areas including: support for the postgraduate student experience, postgraduate funding, new postgraduate research initiatives and regulatory matters for postgraduate research degrees.

For any other general enquiries, please call the King’s central enquiries number: +44(0)20 7836 5454 to find the relevant department or contact.

Funding Enquiries

We advise all prospective students to search the King's Postgraduate Funding Database for funding opportunities. We also suggest that you contact the department in which you intend to register to see if there are any faculty/department schoalrships available. 

If there are no suitable funding opportunities advertised on King's sites, we advise that applicants browse external sites such as FindaPhD.com, postgraduatestudentships.co.uk, or jobs.ac.uk
