Welcome

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Health Sciences Doctoral Training Centre (HSTDC)! We are here to support your scientific and professional training needs throughout your research degrees.

The centre is funded through King’s College London and in line with the college’s vision, the centre is focused on providing world-class research education across the health sciences, to establish a culture of mentorship and professional developmental training, relevant to each individual student.

We offer a wide range of opportunities in research, professional, and career development skills using a variety of approaches, including in-person sessions, online sessions, workshops, and self-study tutorials. We also offer access to a wide range of digital resources.

We have a strong focus on participation and building diverse communities across the health sciences. We have a Buddy Scheme, a PGR Student Forum Fund, and after a hiatus, aim to organize our Annual Research Symposium again this academic year.

As it stands, it looks like we are going back to ‘normal’ after two years of training during the COVID19 pandemic. We will continue to evolve our training strategy to include blended learning. Of course, we recognize the value in face-to-face sessions – we really want to meet you! However, we also know that online sessions are more accessible and will have a wider reach, so we will continue to offer much of our training virtually.

We hope you enjoy this brochure. You’ll find out more about what we do, who we are, and how to contact us. For more information you can always visit this website, and we are also active on Twitter, where you can get the most up-to-date news.

If you have any suggestions for additional training or support that the HSDTC could provide to you, we’d love to hear from you.

I look forward to meeting you during your doctoral studies.
