Induction sessions

The Centre for Doctoral Studies holds a series of inductions for new postgraduate research students at the beginning of the academic year and midway through each year.

The aim of these events is to welcome new research students to King’s and to provide an introduction to life as a doctoral student at King’s.

These sessions cover all Postgraduate Research courses (MPhil/PhD) and provide students with a vital introduction to the training, support, and wide range of services available to them. Induction events also include contributions from current students and student representatives, who present and answer questions on life as a PhD student, their experience at King's and more.

Upcoming sessions:

We will be holding an Induction session to welcome all new postgraduate research students (Home/International) starting after the October start point on Wednesday 29 March from 1pm in the Bush House Auditorium

After this we will be hosting a catered reception for PGR students and staff. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow researchers and get to know some of the colleagues you may engage with during your degree. We will have stalls hosted by the a wide range of groups that support researchers, including: Careers & Employability team, the Health Sciences Doctoral Training Centre, the King's Cultural Community, the King's Clinical Academic Training Office, and the brilliant King's Doctoral Students' Association - a board of PGR students working enhance the student experience!

The Induction will be recorded on the day and this will be made available on the PGR Welcome hub.

PGR Welcome Hub:

In conjunction with our live session, the PGR Induction comprises online materials for you to work through at your own pace on our PGR Welcome Hub. The hub gives you access to the digital Welcome Pack (documents and contact lists relevant to PGRs), as well as a series of short videos from teams across the college that showcase the services and opportunities on offer at King’s.
