Overview

The International Relations MA provides you with an advanced and comprehensive understanding of the forces shaping the world and how actors on the world stage – states, international organisations, transnational networks – see and address global challenges. The movement of capital, goods, and people, new media and information technologies, the rise of identity politics, populism, regional integration, climate change, and different forms of warfare all have a transformative impact on states and societies, their relations and on global order. This degree programme enables you to study these dynamics in depth and from different angles and perspectives. You will be taught by some of the world's leading experts in the academic field of International Relations, who will guide you to analyse world politics from different angles and develop your skills for undertaking a research project on a topic of your choice.

The compulsory module addresses key theoretical, conceptual, and methodological approaches and theoretical debates in the field of International Relations. This degree programme is based in the Department of War Studies, one of the few academic departments in the world to focus on the complexities of conflict and security from different disciplinary perspectives. It is home to some of the world's leading experts in the academic field of International Relations and our students benefit from world class research-led teaching cross thematic and regional specialisms. Learning takes place through a variety of teaching methods that may include lectures, seminars, workshops, London walks, museum visits, simulations, and class presentations.
