The MSc Physiotherapy (pre-registration) provides a contemporary research-enhanced curriculum with a minimum of 1000 hours of professional practice experience and an accelerated route into the profession. It is an ideal study pathway for graduates with a related first degree wishing to become physiotherapists.

The inclusive programme will build on your personal and graduate skills to prepare you for working independently and with others to provide high-quality, person centered care that aims to optimise health, function and well-being for individuals and populations. It aims to promote and support living well and self-management for everyone, including where populations are impacted by structural health inequalities and where people are living with long term conditions.

The programme has a strong emphasis on inclusive education to support skill development for effective communication, evidence-based practice, professionalism and leadership in healthcare, alongside promoting a systematic understanding of the core principles underpinning physiotherapy practice to guide clinical reasoning and health promotion.

On completion of the programme graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Course essentials

Teaching on the Physiotherapy programme brings together excellence in research and practice led by education, clinical and research staff who are experts in their field. We have a strategic partnership with clinicians from our local NHS trust partners, to provide some of the College based clinical and practical teaching. Interprofessional learning with students from other healthcare disciplines (including medicine, nursing, midwifery, dietetics, pharmacy and physiotherapy) and clinical simulation working in high and low fidelity environments and with actors and patient educators is highly valued by our students.

This course is primarily taught at the King’s College London Guy’s and Waterloo Campuses. Please note that locations are determined by where each module is taught and may vary depending on the choice of modules offered at the time. Practice education is arranged in work-based placements in a variety of settings primarily in Greater London although some placements are based further afield in the south-east of England.
