The 3 Campus East Asia programme is a chance to study at three different East Asian campuses, namely Keio University in Tokyo, Yonsei University in Seoul and Hong Kong University. Participants will study alongside a group of students from each of these three institutions plus Princeton, Cornell, the University of Southern California and the University of Geneva.
There are two versions of the programme, full year and half year:
Semester 1 - Keio University, Tokyo: early September - early February
Semester 2 - Yonsei University, Seoul: late February - mid June
Summer term - Hong Kong University: mid June - early August ( *The summer internship is substituted by summer Common Core courses at HKU for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 cohorts)
Short session - Keio University, Tokyo: late January - early February
Semester 2 - Yonsei University, Seoul: late February - mid June
Summer term - Hong Kong University: mid June - early August (*The summer internship is substituted by summer Common Core courses at HKU for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 cohorts)
There are a mixture of compulsory and optional modules on the programme, covering contemporary cultural behaviour, economics, social attitudes, business approaches and language classes. Different aspects are taught on each of the three campuses, and more detailed information can be found below:
The 3 Campus East Asia programme is unique in that it offers three destinations, as part of one organised initiative. Participating King's students will be accepted on an exchange basis, because of the partnerships King's has with Keio, Yonsei and HKU. They will be able to live, learn and interact with a small, select group of students from each of the three Asian universities, as well as those participating students from Princeton, Cornel, USC and Geneva.
To quote from Yonsei's website:
“This East Asia-focused academic program of learning, residing and working together will enable students to cultivate the intellectual and intercultural breadth and depth that will equip them as future global leaders.”
King's students will be exempt from tuition fees because of the exchange partnerships that exist. The King's fee reductions will also apply. However, students will still be expected to pay for flights, visas, accommodation, meals, transport and other learning supplies (books, etc.).
The main application for the full year programme is due in March.
Supplementary applications, for the different campuses, are due in October/November.
The main application for the half year programme is due in October.
