The Centre for Doctoral Studies hosts two King's induction sessions for new postgraduate research students, one at the beginning of the academic year and one midway through each year.
The aim of these events is to welcome new research students to King’s and to provide an introduction to life as a doctoral student at King’s.
These sessions provide students with a vital introduction to the training, support, and wide range of services available to them. Induction events also include contributions from current students, student representatives and supervisors, who present and answer questions on life as a PhD student, their experience at King's and more.
We will be holding an Induction session to welcome all new postgraduate research students on Wednesday 27 September in the Greenwood Theatre.
The induction session will run from 13:30 to 16:00 followed by a catered reception for PGR students and staff which will run from 16:00 to 18:00.
This is a great opportunity to meet fellow researchers and get to know some of the colleagues you may engage with during your degree as well as the support services available to you at King's .
We will have stalls hosted by the a wide range of groups that support researchers, including: Careers & Employability team, the Health Sciences Doctoral Training Centre, the King's Cultural Community, the King's Clinical Academic Training Office, and the brilliant King's Doctoral Students' Association - your PGR student reps who work together to enhance the student experience!
A recording from our Spring induction session is available on the PGR Welcome Hub (please note you will require your King's log in credentials to access the hub).
In conjunction with our live session, we provide a range of online materials for you to work through at your own pace on our PGR Welcome Hub. The hub gives you access to the digital Welcome Pack (documents and contact lists relevant to PGRs), as well as series of short videos from teams across the college that showcase the services and opportunities on offer at King's.
Current King's students can access the PGT Welcome Hub on KEATS (please note you will require your King's log in credentials to access the hub).
If you have any problems with the registration form or any questions about Induction, please contact us at doctoralstudies@kcl.ac.uk.
